The Lord of the Rings: Easterlings
Official HCC Easterlings Site
First and foremost, major super duper props to Judy and AJ for being the masterminds behind this project and to Aya Mizu and Aimee for allowing me to be a part of this awesome group. I probably did like .2% of overall construction of these costumes. Something like, "See that spike there? Third row, second over? I did that one." Instead of construction help I'd like to think I provided comic relief? Or maybe that was just me being normal. LOL
With more plastic on our bodies than a Hollywood starlet and enough eyeliner to last for five years, we fooled the majority of the audience at Comic-Con into thinking we were a bunch of guys behind the helmets. One of the coolest things that happened while in these costumes was when, after receiving our award on stage at the masquerade, we removed our helmets to reveal our true selves. Reports from friends state that lots of "Oh my god, they're girls?!" were heard from both the masquerade audience as well as the photographers in the press area. C'mon now, you think it was a guy's idea to wear all that eyeliner? hahahahah
It was so cool to be able to cosplay with such talented and seasoned cosplayers like Judy, Aimee, AJ and Aya Mizu. I remember visiting their sites before I even started cosplaying and just being in awe of their work. They rock! And definitely not to be forgotten were our wonderful handlers moo, ZiggyB and Arthur who managed to keep their spirits up even when we were practically helpless in all that armor. Best. Army. Ever. ;D
